Conference Tournament Late Round Magic
|
Author: Tom Stryker - Thursday, March 08, 2007
There are plenty of money-making opportunities in conference tournament action. You just
need to know when and where to pick your spots.
This weekend, from Friday, March 9th, through Sunday, March 11th, the Semifinal and
Championship rounds of 12 different conference tournaments will hit the big board. For
most amateur handicappers, this can be a difficult few days. Usually, the weaker teams
are eliminated in the First and Quarterfinal rounds and, for the most part, you're left
with just the elite programs. Thanks to a reliable Late-Round Magic System that I've been
tracking since 1990 I've always closed with a bang. You can too if you respect the
following technical situation I'm about to break down.
This Conference Tournament system preys on those college basketball teams in the Semifinal
or Championship rounds that enter off a straight up underdog win. Upsets happen all the
time in sporting events. Unfortunately, so does the emotional crash that follows. With
regards to the conference tournaments, you want to play against any team in the Semifinal
or Championship round provided they enter off a straight up underdog win. Since 1990,
this situation is a dismal 168-201 ATS. If our "play against" side enters off
back-to-back straight up wins (and most will since only a rare few get a bye into these
late rounds) and is matched up against an opponent that owns a won/loss percentage of .760
or better, this system dips to a wallet-breaking 44-71 ATS. That's a nifty 61.7 percent
winning situation!
There are four different parameters that can be added to this Late-Round Magic System that
really make it pop. Each four are different so you'll need to apply them where you can
once the matchups are set. Please note: All four sets are taken from the general 44-71
ATS situation.
First, our "play against" side crashes to a shocking 15-40-1 ATS provided it
checks in off a straight up victory of seven points or more. Pulling off the upset is one
thing. But, whipping the pants off the opponent you just beat is another story especially
when you were priced as the underdog!
Second, if our "play against" side is locked into a payback mode and running
with a revenge margin of 14 points or more, this system slips to an ugly 9-26-1 ATS. The
knee-jerk reaction would be to jump all over a team in such a serious revenge mode.
However, as you can plainly see, this is one payback scenario you don't want to
consider.
Third, provided our "play against" side comes priced as an underdog of +6 or
more, this technical situation drops to a stiff 22-44 ATS. As stated earlier, it's
awfully difficult for a team to pull off an upset and come back the next time out with the
same amount of emotional energy. Fatigue also plays a factor here. Most teams are
playing in a back-to-back while others could be running in their third (or fourth)
straight game.
Finally, if our "play against" side is battling an opponent that carries a No. 1
or No. 2 seed, this system falls to a woeful 33-63 ATS. The cream of the crop always
rises to the top and our overachiever just can't get the job done a second time in a row
against one of the conferences best.
These Conference Tournament Late-Round Magic investments will begin to pop on Friday,
March 9th and last through Sunday. Be sure to do your homework and tighten up the
situations when you can. It may take you about 30 minutes each day to determine which
teams apply but the rewards are definitely worth it! Best of luck in March Madness this
year men! TS
