Covering The NFL - The Best And Worst ATS

There is usually a discepancy between ATS records and Straight-Up Win/Loss records in the NFL, but in a season that has been surprising for a notable lack of sports betting surprises, the best and the worst NFL teams from a betting perspective are pretty easy to spot.
One of the bigger surprises is Detroit. The Lions are only 4-5 on the year, but they're a healthy 6-3 ATS. The reason: the Lions get a lot of media heat painting them as a team in disarray, but the reality is they play in the weakest division outside of high school football, and they generally keep things close.
Other teams that have 2-game differences between their ATS and W/L stats are: the Bucs, who are 6-3 on the year but only 4-5 ATS, the Eagles, a miserable 2-7 ATS even though they have scraped out 4 wins on the season, and the 49ers, who have 4 ATS victories but only 2 real wins.
There are, however, 3 teams with a 3-game differential, and these teams could represent good betting value. The Colts are a perfect 9-0 of course but only 6-3 ATS. The betting value here could be in opposing them, which was the case last week against the Texans. The latter are another surprise team with 4 covers and only 1 win on the season. Finally we have the Packers, who have managed 5 covers on the back of only 2 wins. The Texans and the Packers will both win a few more this season, and the Colts are unlikely to stay perfect.
