August 28 - The Falcons were underdogs for their NFLX home opener against the Bengals, but it always looked like a massive line error to MasterBets and Nick Parsons, and clients of these two handicappers were cashing in this big dog by the time Monday Night Football was said and done.

As MasterBets pointed out in his analysis for the game casual bettors and some pundits made the mistake of thinking that the Vick story would have a nagative impact on the Falcons players. Instead it made them play harder, whereas for the Bengals this remained a meaningless preseason tune up.

Make no mistake the Atlanta Falcons with Harrington at the helm will be a bad team this year, while the Bengals will once again challenge for the postseason, but in this spot the Falcons +3 points was a gift.

Bad teams tend to perform very well in the preseason, because they face superior foes who are looking to the actual regular season and are not that concerned with exhibition football. Thus teams like the Raiders and Falcons have performed creditably while the Patriots and Ravens are both 1-2 for this preseason.

Interestingly, the only undefeated preseason team is the Bears who do figure to be very competitive in the regular season as well. They have won all three games by narrow margins however, and failed to get the cover at home last time out vs the 49ers.
