November 27 - The twelfth week of the NFL season is in the books and by this stage we have a great idea as to the quality of all the teams. There is still parity in this league, but there are teams that have to be avoided ATS because they simply cannot cover spreads. By contrast, there are a few "mediocre" teams in the SU column that are getting their backers a lot of cashes...
The list below shows ATS wins - then losses - then ties.
1. Green Bay Packers 9-1-1
2. New England Patriots 9-2-0
3. Cleveland Browns 9-2-0
4. Dallas Cowboys 8-3-0
5. Indianapolis Colts 7-4-0
6. Jacksonville Jaguars 7-4-0
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-4-0
8. Arizona Cardinals 7-4-0
9. Buffalo Bills 6-4-1
10. Pittsburgh Steelers 6-5-0
11. New York Giants 6-5-0
12. Seattle Seahawks 6-5-0
13. San Diego Chargers 6-5-0
14. Minnesota Vikings 5-4-2
15. Philadelphia Eagles 6-5-0
16. Atlanta Falcons 6-5-0
Of the top sixteen teams it is apparent that Green Bay has been completely undervalued by every oddsmaker and most handicappers (we hold our hands up here as well) throughout the season. It is time to take them seriously, and for that matter how about a little respect for the Cleveland Browns? No one saw them coming this season. All the top teams are here, so there are no suprises, until we get to Tampa Bay and Arizona, who are both gritty squads that should be watched. It is very surprising to see a team like the Falcons returning a profit, no matter how small, but the fact is that they haven't quit at any point in a very tough season.
17 Detroit Lions 5-5-1
18 Kansas City Chiefs 5-5-1
19 Tennessee Titans 5-6-0
20 Houston Texans 5-6-0
21 Cincinnati Bengals 5-6-0
22 Miami Dolphins 3-5-3
23 Chicago Bears 4-7-0
24 New Orleans Saints 4-7-0
25 Washington Redskins 3-6-2
26 Carolina Panthers 4-7-0
27 Oakland Raiders 4-7-1
28 New York Jets 3-7-1
29 Denver Broncos 3-8-0
30 San Francisco 49ers 3-8-0
31 St. Louis Rams 3-8-0
32 Baltimore Ravens 1-10-0
Baltimore is the complete opposite of Green Bay - simply by fading them in every game this season you would have made a small fortune. Their only cover came against the Rams, a truly awful team that is right above them on this list of bottom-feeders. The Ravens / Patriots game is going to see a very interesting line indeed! Teams like Denver, New Orleans, and Chicago have all underperformed this season, and the spreads have been slow to take this into account, hence the high losing rate ATS.
