Sport: College FootballPick Selection: UTAH over NM
Take Utah over New Mexico at 9:00 ET. Utah's defense has been very good this season, allowing just 17 ppg and 289.3 ypg. Their ballhawking defense has forced 20 turnovers, tops in the nation, thanks to playmakers like DB Eric Weddle (6 INTs this season). For New Mexico, averaging just 247.7 ypg their last three games, going against Utah is a little scary, especially with RS frosh QB Donovan Porterie going. Porterie was brought in to replace the ineffective Chris Nelson, who replaced the injured Cole McKamey. Thursday, it will be Utah exacting revenge on the Lobos. The Utes have a solid QB in Brett Ratliff and an experienced offensive line. While Ratliff was sacked five times in the loss to Wyoming, coach Kyle Whittingham is not terribly worried because he's seen New Mexico's schemes and knows their 3-3-5 defense. Whittingham's other ace in the hole is senior RB Darryl Poston, who will have a solid outing. Utah is 10-4-1 ATS their last 15 off a game in which they scored less than 20 pts, and they have shown an ability to make adjustments. And New Mexico is just 2-8 ATS in their last ten home games. Take the Utes to win and cover.
