Sport: College FootballPick Selection: Bowling Green
At 3:30 pm, our Non-Conference Game of the Month is on the Bowling Green Falcons plus the points against their cross-state rivals, the OSU Buckeyes. This is a terrible scheduling spot for Ohio State. It's a non-conference game sandwiched in between road tilts at Iowa last week, and before next week's game at Michigan State. Clearly, the Buckeyes wouldn't be faulted for taking it a bit easy against BGSU with that big game in East Lansing next week. We already saw Ohio State go through the motions against Cincinnati the week after beating Texas (a game which the Buckeyes were extremely lucky to cover). I can't see them having the requisite passion to cover an even larger pointspread in this contest. In contrast, this will be the biggest game that any of the Falcon players will participate in during their 4 years at Bowling Green. In fact, in coach Gregg Brandon's first year at BGSU (in 2003), the Falcons played Ohio State extremely tough and lost by just 7 points, 24-17, as a 13 point underdog. And since 2002, no team in the MAC has had a higher win percentage than the Falcons. Finally, I have a terrific system on BGSU which is 74-37 ATS (67%) which plays against favorites of 21 or more points that are off 3 straight wins and covers as a favorite. Take the generous spot with Bowling Green, as this game will be much tighter than expected. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
