Sport: College FootballPick Selection: Louisville
At 7 pm, on ESPN-U, our Big East Game of the Year is on the Louisville Cardinals plus the points over Cincinnati. This Interstate 71 rivalry is for the "Keg of Nails", and surprisingly, Louisville has played poorly this year, and is an underdog for just the third time in 19 games. The Cardinals have dominated the Bearcats over the years, winning eight of nine straight-up, and covering seven of nine. This rivalry reached its boiling point in 2004 when Louisville humiliated Cincy 70-7 in retaliation for Bearcat players stomping on their Cardinal logo at mid-field of Papa John's Stadium. But this year, it's Cincinnati that has the higher ranking, nationally, after defeating Rutgers last week, and reaching #15 in the polls. However, Louisville has a lot of offensive talent, and is much better than it played last week in its 44-35 loss as a 15-point home favorite vs. Utah. The Cardinals, behind Brian Brohm, are ranked 2nd nationally with 402 passing yards per game, and fall into a 69-13 ATS system of mine off that upset loss at the hands of Utah. The Cardinals are 10-2 ATS as regular season underdogs of +5 or more points since Sept. 19, 1998. Take Louisville. Good luck, as always, Al McMordie. And don't miss my 3-game package which includes another Conference Game of the Year winner, or my College Game of the Week (5-1 this year on our #1 Weekly plays), or my Non-Conference Favorite of the Year.
