#166 VIRGINIA TECH (-6') over Florida State by 20 at 3:30 PM EST
Florida State has won 12 straight in this series including a 27-22 victory in the inaugural ACC Championship Game in 2005. If that wasn't painful enough, Seminoles head coach Bobby Bowden is a perfect 15-0 SU against the Hokies while Tech skipper Frank Beamer stands 0-7 SU versus the Noles. This Virginia Tech football team has a lot of pride and I guarantee you Coach Beamer has made those records known.
For the Hokies, this is the perfect spot to grab a victory over the Seminoles. FSU enters this contest off its amazing upset win over the previously undefeated Boston College Eagles and the Noles are ripe for a beating. My system book agrees.
Coming off a straight up victory over an undefeated team at week nine of the season or later, college football teams are a dismal 11-19-1 ATS in their next game including a wallet-breaking 3-14 ATS in this role provided they were priced as an underdog of +1.5 or more last. Florida State is locked into this "play against" situation.
There are several technical reasons to like Tech here. First, since 1988, the Hokies are a powerful 39-17 ATS at home priced as an underdog or a favorite of -14 or less. Second, in a revenge mode and matched up against an opponent that carries a won/loss percentage of .650 or better, Tech is a terrific 26-8-1 ATS. Finally, coming off a straight up underdog win, VT is a jaw-dropping 14-1 ATS in their next game.
On foreign soil, FSU has posted a dismal 9-14 ATS mark in its last 23 tries including a stiff 4-11 ATS in this set matched up against a foe that owns a won/loss percentage of .500 or better. The Hokies are way overdue for a victory against the Noles and they'll get it here. Take Virginia Tech. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
