Villanova is sitting at the bottom of the Big East standings with a 0-2 record following a home loss against DePaul, one of the most schizophrenic teams in the country, over the weekend. The Wildcats don?t have time to feel sorry for themselves however as they head out and take on one of the preseason favorites to win the conference. Villanova has played much better on the road this season than at home as it is 5-1 in true roadies including impressive wins at Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
The Hoyas won their Big East opener in impressive fashion over Notre Dame on Saturday but the advantages they had there are not going to be present tonight. Most notably, the Georgetown edge down low that it normally possesses will be negated by Villanova with Curtis Sumpter and Will Sheridan banging down low with Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green. The Hoyas are 18th in the country in rebounding margin but the Wildcats are right there at 35th.
Villanova comes into this game having played a tougher schedule thus far yet showing just a one-game difference in records. The Wildcats also hold the better assist/turnover ratio and one huge edge is at the free throw line where they are hitting 78 percent on the season, 4th in the country. The Hoyas are shooting 69.2 percent which is good but two of their last four games have seen percentages of 46.2 and 37.5 percent. Anything coming down late goes to the Wildcats.
