Virginia Commonwealth Rams at Drexel Dragons 12:00 PM ET
Drexel Dragons -2 -105
It?s time for Drexel to take a big step in the Colonial League. The Dragons are having a phenomenal season but back-to-back conference losses have put them two games behind the Rams and a loss here would be devastating. Drexel is 6-1 at home with its lone loss coming against a very good Hofstra team in overtime. It has won three straight since a loss at Old Dominion and with quality wins already at Temple, Syracuse and Villanova, this team is confident playing the really good teams.
Virginia Commonwealth is certainly doing something special this season but it is bound to come to an end. The Rams are a perfect 8-0 in true road games this season, the only team besides Wisconsin that is still undefeated on the road as it is at 4-0. Virginia Commonwealth has exactly played the hardest of road schedules and this will be its biggest test to date. Overall, it has played the 232nd ranked schedule and that is better than what it has faced away from home.
Drexel will be without the services of Frank Elegar for Saturday?s game. He is the leading scorer on the team and while his loss hurts the frontcourt, the loss isn?t as severe in this matchup as this one will be won with guard play. The Rams have arguably the best backcourt trio in the league but Drexel isn?t far behind with Bashir Mason, Dominick Mejia and Scott Rodgers. The Dragons defense is stifling allowing opponents to shoot just 36.4 percent at home while allowing a minute assist/turnover ratio of 0.56.
Drexel leads the league in field-goal percentage defense at 39.3 percent and is second in the CAA in scoring defense, allowing just 58.9 ppg. The Rams have a potent offense with a lot of high scoring games coming in and that sets up a solid situation. Play against - any team after going over the total by 48 or more points total in their last seven games, a team winning more than 80 percent of its games playing a team winning more than 60 percent of its games. This situation is 37-14 ATS (72.5 percent) since 1997. Play Drexel Dragons 2 Units
