Wright St. Raiders +4 -105
Butler is having a magical season thus far but its going to have its hands full on Saturday. The Bulldogs have won nine straight games and they have been dismantling the competition throughout this run and for most of the season. The last three road wins have been blowout victories but the competition has been suspect at best and this is the toughest roadie since a narrow four-point win at Loyola-Chicago for games back. With first place on the line, Butler should expect a dogfight.
Wright St. has been playing just as good as it has won six straight games and is 15-3 in its last 18 games. One of those losses was a 31-point loss at Butler in the beginning of January and you can bet the Raiders certainly have not forgotten that loss. Since an improbable loss at home against Bowling Green, Wright St. has won eight straight at home with the last six all coming by at least 11 points. The Raiders are coming off an overtime win at Illinois-Chicago to keep pace with Butler.
Defense has played a big part in the Butler success this season but that has been the care with the Raiders as well. Wright St. has allowed 64 points or fewer in each of its last six games, allowing an average of only 53.8 ppg. More impressively has been that it has allowed only 35 percent shooting over that span and only two teams have made more than 19 field goals. Butler is 13th in the country in defensive shooting but Wright St. is not far behind and has the better numbers in home/road games.
The Bulldogs come in with a 1.46 assist/turnover ratio in road games but Wright St. is allowing a ratio of just 0.68 as it has a solid +5.3 turnover margin which will gibe Butler fits. Wright St. is 9-1 at home this season and The Nutter Center has become one of the most feared places in the league. The Raiders have gone 30-8 at home over the least three seasons and Butler is one of those teams without much success, losing four straight on the road in this series. The Bulldogs finally get tested. Play Wright St. Raiders 2 Units
