Duke Blue Devils at Clemson Tigers 9:00 PM ET
Clemson Tigers E -112
If there is ever a time for Clemson to defeat Duke, this is the year. The Blue Devils are clearly not the same team we have seen over the years while Clemson, despite having a rough stretch of late, is having one of its best seasons in recent memory. The Tigers are 12-3 at home this season and following an embarrassing loss to Maryland will them even more fired up for this one. Clemson certainly has not forgotten what happened in the first meeting with the last second Duke win and the clock situation.
Duke has rebounded since a four-game losing streak with back-to-back victories over Boston College and Georgia Tech but both of those games were anything short of dominating or that the Blue Devils problems are over. They allowed a combined 49.5 percent shooting in those two games which is not normal Blue Devils defense as they came into those games allowing just 40.4 percent shooting in their previous 25 games. Clemson can no doubt take advantage with its very potent and efficient offense that is averaging 74.3 ppg on 46.8 percent shooting.
It?s obviously important to note that Clemson has not defeated Duke since 1997, a span covering 20 games. However as stated before this is not the same Duke team as the Blue Devils were ranked in the top three in the nation entering 15 of those 20 games and in the top 10 in all 20 games. After losing the rebounding battle just twice in the first 17 games, Clemson has been out-rebounded in eight of the last nine games. The good news is that Duke has been struggling as well over its last five games.
The loss by Clemson against Maryland last time out not only gets the Tigers fired up but also puts them in a profitable situation. Play on all teams where the line is +3 to -3 off an upset loss by 15 points or more as a favorite, a good team that is winning 60 percent or more of its games playing a team with a winning record. This situation is 35-7 ATS (83.3 percent) over the last 5 seasons with the average point differential being +6.1 ppg in favor of the play on team. Clemson gets things going again and gets its revenge on Thursday. Play Clemson Tigers 2.5 Units
