There is no reason Kansas should be laying this many points. The Jayhawks are out for some payback following a loss against Texas in their meeting this season but that motivation doesn?t mean much in a game of this magnitude. The Longhorns have some payback of their own however as Kansas has beaten Texas in the tournament finale each of the last two years. Texas will be seeking its first Big XII tournament championship after losing in the final four times.
Texas players say they can't stand the thought of losing to Kansas three straight years in the title game. The winner of this game could be getting a number one seed which may seem odd considering the fact that this game ends just an hour before the selections are announced. Despite the fact they have already beaten Kansas, Texas has been pretty much locked as a number two seed but the Longhorns are the only team in the country with three wins over teams currently ranked in the top five.
Texas has fared much better against the elite teams against the number as well. The Longhorns are 13-4 ATS against teams that are outscoring their opponents by eight or more ppg after 15 or more games over the last two seasons while Kansas is 8-24 ATS against teams winning more than 80 percent of their games after 15 or more games since 1997.
