Sport: MLBPick Selection: OAK over SEA; NYY over LAA; SD, COL over
Take the Yankees at 10:05 ET. The Yanks come into this one 1-3 and you can feel the heat emanating from their clubhouse. Randy Johnson is the guy who you want starting when you need a W, and going against inexperienced Ervin Santana the Yanks are a great play. The Yanks have scored nearly six runs per game, and the Angels went into Friday's game allowing nearly seven per game. As well, Johnson is 4-1 in his last five decisions against the Halos and was impressive in his first start this year, posting a .714 WHIP. Yankees get off the schneid and win here.
Take the A's over the Mariners at 9:05 ET. Moyer and Zito both lost their opening starts, but Zito is a lot closer to the prime of his career than Moyer is. Don't forget Barry is still 86-54 in his career with an ERA around 3 1/2. In 2005, Zito beat the M's and Moyer in his last start of the season against them, and Zito has been very good in his career against Seattle, winning 9 of 11 decisions with an ERA of 4. The A's take this Saturday decision.
Take OVER in the Padres-Rockies at 10:05 ET. Colorado's pitching, as usual, is suspect; their pitchers have allowed 5.5 runs per game and the bullpen's ERA is around six. The Padres sent Chris Young out yesterday and he got shelled, and the Padre bullpen didn't do its job. Tonight, both starters are suspect. Zach Day ended the season with two straight overs for the Rocks and had a 6.85 ERA overall last season (and 9.75 ERA in the spring). Dewon Brazelton posted a 7.61 ERA last year, and his career mark is around six. Over is the play here.
