Sport: MLBPick Selection: Twins/Mariners 'Under'
At 8:10 pm, our American League Total of the Month is on the 'under' in the Twins/Mariners game. Both teams are stuggling vs. lefty starters this season. Minnesota is 1-4 vs. lefties, with a .201 batting average, and they're scoring just 2.2 runs per game. The Mariners are not doing much better. They're 2-6 vs. lefties with a .223 batting average, and they're scoring just 3.6 runs per game. And these are two of the better lefties in baseball. Johan Santana won the Cy Young Award two years ago, and he's coming off a game in which he struck out 10 batters while walking just one. And Jarrod Washburn has a 2.11 ERA over his last 3 starts. Finally, both pitchers have performed well vs. their respective opponent. Washburn is 5-2 against the Twins with a 3.14 ERA, while Santana is 4-0 vs. Seattle, with a 2.08 ERA.
