Sport: MLBPick Selection: Colorado, Atlanta, and Arizona
Our 3 selections include Atlanta, Colorado, and Arizona.
Atlanta -- At 4:05 pm, our selection is on the Atlanta Braves, as we will back Timmy Hudson, who has a 2.73 career ERA vs. Houston. And Hudson's mound opponent, rookie right-hander Taylor Buchholz, has been dreadful over his last 7 starts. He's given up 8 runs or more in 4 of them, and has a 10.80 ERA over those 7 starts (Houston lost 6 of them). Take Atlanta.
Arizona -- At 9:40 pm, our selection is on the Arizona Diamondbacks and Brandon Webb (in my mind the best pitcher in baseball this year). Webb pitched 7 shutout innings when these two teams last met (a 1-0 NY win in extra innings), and he has a 2.14 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP this year. And in his career vs. New York, his ERA is 2.16. With a 1.17 ERA over his last 3 starts, we'll look for Webb to remain in fine form today. Also, New York will hand the ball to Alay Soler today, and he got shelled by the D-Backs in his only start vs. them back on May 30 (7 runs in 5 innings). Take Arizona.
Colorado -- At 8:05 pm, our selection is on the Colorado Rockies with Jason Jennings over Los Angeles and Brett Tomko. Jennings is one of those pitchers who performs much better in front of his home fans than on the road. At Coors Field, Jennings is 42-23, including 26-8 as a home favorite, and he's 27-11 at home under the lights. Take Colorado tonight. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my double 100% NBA Game 2 Winner tomorrow night. It's available right now.
