Sport: MLBPick Selection: #962 Florida with Johnson
#962 Florida with Johnson at 1:05 PM EST
The future for Florida and Boston will be on the mound Sunday at Dolphin Stadium. Red Sox lefty Jon Lester gets the call for the BoSox while Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson will toe the rubber for the Marlins.
Lester doesn't have much experience in a Boston uniform and that could cost the southpaw dearly here. So far, Lester has made only one road start and, even though he picked up the win at Atlanta in that performance, this will be his toughest test yet.
What concerns this writer the most about Mr. Lester is his control. In 21.1 innings, Lester has surrendered 14 walks. Free passes are a sure way to get yourself in deep trouble in the Majors and Lester needs to cut his walks down immediately.
Florida's Johnson has a few more big-league starts under his belt and this experience could be the difference. Take a look. At home, Johnson is a blistering 5-1 and has allowed just eight earned runs (34 K's) in 38.1 innings of work. That breaks down to a stellar 1.88 ERA. In his last three starts alone, Johnson has been dialed in surrendering only five earned runs in 18.1 innings en route to a perfect 3-0 record.
It's never easy going against Boston. However, Marlins pitcher Josh Johnson has been solid on the hill and he's worth a look at home at this price. Take Florida with Johnson. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
