#929 Tampa Bay with listed pitcher Kazmir over Oakland at 4:05 PM EST
Seasoned southpaw and Tampa Bay ace Scott Kazmir will do battle against Oakland lefty Dallas Braden who will be making the second start of his career. Even though Braden threw well in his first game at Baltimore, he will struggle to match that effort here.
After getting ripped for nine earned runs in 12 frames in his first two starts of the season, Kazmir has returned to his dominant form in his last three trips to the hill. In games against Minnesota, Baltimore and New York, No. 19 has been touched for only six earned runs and 17 hits in 18.2 innings. Going four starts back, Kazmir has fanned 24 batters in 25.2 frames.
The history book shows that Kazmir has enjoyed some success against Oakland too. In five starts, Scott has posted a 2-1 record and surrendered only 11 earned runs in 26.2 innings. That breaks down to a respectable 3.71 ERA.
Oakland's bats have been quiet all year long. The A's are averaging only 3.8 runs per game and hitting a woeful .229. Kazmir will have no trouble keeping those sticks at bay this afternoon. Take Tampa Bay with listed pitcher Kazmir. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
