Sport: MLBPick Selection: Mariners
At 8:10pm our American League Game of the Week is on the Seattle Mariners over the Kansas City Royals. Seattle's righthanded ace Felix Hernandez started off the season like he was going to run away with the American League Cy Young award, but an elbow injury stopped him in his tracks in late April. The Mariners surely breathed a sigh of relief when they found out that his injury did not require surgery and that Hernandez would only be out for a few weeks. It could have been much worse. He has eased back into his starting role and in his last start he showed he was almost all the way back with nine strikeouts in only 5 innings. That was at home and this is on the road, but if you're going to be on the road, Kansas City playing the Royals is not a bad place to be. In his only other road start of the season, King Felix shut down the Red Sox at Fenway Park giving up only 1 hit in a complete game 3-0 shutout of mighty Boston, and if he is capable of that when he's healthy, tonight should be a piece of cake. This may be your last chance to get the Mariners and a healthy Hernandez at even money for a long time. Take Seattle. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
