Milwaukee Brewers (Capuano) +112
***I.L. Anti-Public Play of the Week*** Detroit is on a three-game winning streak following the win last night off Justin Verlander?s no-hitter. One of my rules is to not go against winning streaks of three or more or to go on losing streaks of three or more unless there are certain exceptions and the Tigers fall into one of those. Coming off that no-hitter, Detroit players were feeling no pain last night and if ever there is a letdown in baseball, this is it. Milwaukee is in good position to get the bats going tonight.
Don?t expect to see another no-hitter in Detroit tonight. Mike Maroth takes the hill and he has been one of the most inconsistent starters in the rotation with the exception of Nate Robertson. He is coming off his best performance in four starts and it still wasn?t a quality start. He has just two quality starts over his last nine outings. Maroth is winless after four home starts this season, going 0-2 with a 5.60 ERA and 1.43 WHIP at Comerica Park, where he is allowing opposing hitters to bat .293.
Chris Capuano is coming off another poor performance on the road, making it three straight rough outings. He is a much better pitcher than what he has displayed of late as he has lost his fifth straight start after starting out 5-0. He gave up six runs and eight hits while walking four in four innings against the Rangers last time out. Previous to that however, he tossed two straight quality starts and he is 4-0 in five career starts against American League Central teams. That includes a win against the Tigers last season.
Milwaukee is part of a great situation which pitching takes precedence over hitting. Play against any American League team with a starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.60 to 1.70 on the season and with a team batting average of .285 or better on the season. This situation is 31-12 against the moneyline (72.1 percent) over the last five seasons with the average run differential being +1.5 rpg. This is even stronger since it is an underdog situation which is the case here as well. We?ll go against the Tigers ?hangover?. Play Milwaukee Brewers 2 Units
