San Francisco Giants (Lincecum) -109
San Francisco took two of three against New York and carries that momentum into the opener against the Padres. The two-game run comes on the heels of an eight-game losing streak, six of which came on the road however. The giants have won four of their last six at home where they are an even .500 on the season. San Diego is struggling as it has won only once in its last five games and is currently on a 6-9 run over its last 15 games. The Padres are averaging only 2.6 rpg over their last five games.
The Giants send Tim Lincecum to the mound and he has not had a good last two outings. He has allowed 13 runs in just 7.2 innings and while would be something to normally shy away from, a strong rebound is likely going to happen. Most of his problems have been during his three daytime starts where his ERA is a putrid 11.05. At night, he has a 3.86 ERA in six starts so the difference is very dramatic. He had a string of four straight quality outings and will get back to that here.
Justin Germano has tossed seven quality starts in his eight outings this season including all four on the road. He is 3-0 with a 1.50 away from home and he has been the recipient of good run support, getting 5.5 rpg. The offense is struggling now however and with this game at night, things will be different. He is just the opposite of Lincecum as he has yet to allow an earned run in three daytime starts but has a 4.34 ERA in his five starts at night and will be facing a Giants offense that has improved production in its last five games.
A lot of factors are going with Lincecum including the fact that he has not been pitching well of late. Play on any team with a starting pitcher whose strikes out five or more batters per start and has posted an ERA of 7.00 or greater over his last five games. This situation is 57-23 against the moneyline (71.2 percent) over the last five seasons with the average run differential being +1.8 rpg over those 80 games. It has won both times this season and is added to here on Monday. Play San Francisco Giants 2 Units
