New York Mets (Pelfrey) +102
The Mets were able to take another game from the Phillies on Saturday making it five straight wins for New York which is easily its best run of the young season. The season definitely started slow for the Mets but since opening 2-4, they have gone 8-2 over their last 10 games and look to make it five in a row over the Phillies. Philadelphia had won nine straight in this series prior to the opening game this season so New York remains in payback mode.
This season has been extremely up and down for the Phillies as they have alternated wins and losses for the most part of the year whether it being one or two games either way. The Phillies have not lost three straight on the year but in each instance following a two-game losing streak, the offense has stepped up and I just don?t see it here. The Phillies are hitting .251 on the season and run production is down. Despite leading the National League in home runs, they are just 7th in runs.
Adam Eaton has pitched better than his record of no wins indicated and that is exactly why I am going against him. Regular followers know about the quality starts scenarios I follow closely and Eaton falls into one of those tonight. He has tossed three straight quality outings and with him not being a top pitcher in the league this is where we go against him. This usually works at a two-game quality start run but his counterpart in the past game, Shawn Chacon, was also part of the same scenario so it was a no play.
The Mets counter with Mike Pelfrey who is also having a great start to the season. Even though it has been just two outings, he has looked strong and it coming off his best outing of his young career in his last start against the Nationals. Granted, the Nationals offense is no Phillies offense but he has already tamed the Phillies offense once this season in his first outing of the year. He allowed two runs in five innings just fell short of a quality outing. The Mets are 5-1 in Pelfrey?s last 6 starts. Play New York Mets 2 Units
