#973 PHILADELPHIA with Hamels (-122) over Texas at 8:05 PM EST
Philadelphia broke out of its offensive funk last night and popped for seven runs against Texas. That's a good sign for the struggling Phils and things will only get better with ace southpaw Cole Hamels on the bump.
In his last three starts against the Angels, Red Sox and Marlins, Hamels has been right on the money. The lefty from San Diego, California was touched for only seven earned runs and 16 hits in 22.0 innings of work. That adds up to a sizzling 2.86 ERA. Cole also fanned 22 batters and walked only three. Equally impressive, Cole's efforts under the lights have been awesome. In 80.0 frames, No. 35 has been nicked for only 27 earned runs and 59 hits. That shakes down to a nifty 3.04 ERA!
The team angles back this investment too. With Hamels on the hill, Philadelphia has cashed 35 of its last 51 as a favorite including 15 of its last 21 on foreign soil in this role. Meanwhile, Texas has struggled against lefty's winning only two of its last 10.
Rangers hurler Padilla is having an All-Star season so far. However, on this day, Phillies ace Hamels will be a touch better. Take Philadelphia with listed pitcher Hamels. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
