#976 LA ANGELS with Floyd (-126) over Oakland at 10:05 PM EST
I picked up a nice win with the Angels on Sunday and I'll come right back with the Halos again tonight.
On the mound for Los Angeles will be right hander Jon Garland. After getting roughed up at home against Atlanta back on June 13th, Garland regained his composure and pitched well in his last two starts. Facing Washington and New York (Mets), Jon was touched for five earned runs and 12 hits in 13 innings of work. So far this season, No. 20's best efforts have come under the lights. At night, Garland owns a solid 6-3 record and a respectable 3.74 ERA. With the lights on, Jon has been touched for 35 earned runs and 95 hits in 84.1 frames.
Oakland will counter with youngster Greg Smith. Even though Smith has pitched well this season (4-6 overall with a 3.69 ERA), this is going to be a difficult spot for the former LSU Tiger. On foreign soil, the southpaw from Alexandria, Louisiana has experienced some control problems with 24 free passes in 46.2 frames. Overall, Smith has been crushed for 21 earned runs and 37 hits on the road.
On a technical note, the A's have struggled against the AL West posting wins in only nine of their last 18 battles. Meanwhile, the Angels have nailed 16 of their last 21 versus southpaws and 36 of their last 52 at home facing an opponent that owns a won/loss percentage greater than .500. Take Los Angeles with listed pitcher Garland. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
