Los Angeles Dodgers (Johnson) -130
**71.4% Late Night Bailout Best Bet** This is a great price for the Dodgers despite what looks like a pitching mismatch because it is far from that. Los Angeles remains a game behind the Diamondbacks in the National League West and now one game under .500 on the season. The Dodgers have been solid at home for the most part and especially of late, having won four straight prior to Monday. The Dodgers are 23-12 over the last 35 meetings and they are 13-6 in their last 19 against a team with a losing record.
San Francisco has had a strange season in that is that played better on the road than at home. The Giants are 14 games under .500 at home and three games under .500 on the road so while they have been better on the road, they are still not very good. This includes a 2-5 record over their last seven road games which pushed them back to under .500. They have lost three of four heading into this series and the Giants are 5-12 in their last 17 overall.
The pitching mismatch could be explained by the simple fact that Jason Johnson is back in the pros and pitching again. He had some good seasons with the Orioles but the fact that he is pitching again is close to a minor miracle based no his health issues. He has come out of the bullpen twice and has looked great both times, allowing just one run in each appearance after tossing three and four innings respectively. He has a bullpen that has an ERA of 3.15 on the season including 2.35 at home.
Matt Cain gets the call for the Giants and while he has been pitching very well, he isn?t getting the win nor are the Giants. In his 22 starts, San Francisco is only 8-14 which is not good considering his 3.82 season ERA. It is nothing new as the Giants went 9-23 in his 32 starts despite a 3.65 ERA last season. He has not fared well against the opposition as in seven career starts against the Dodgers, Cain is 0-4 with a 5.30 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. The Giants are 7-20 in Cain?s last 27 starts as an underdog. He goes down again. Play Los Angeles Dodgers 2 Units
