Washington Wizards -1 -110
It?s hard to get a lot of confidence in Washington as it has lost four of five games but this is the perfect opportunity to get things going again. The record on the road stands at 9-14 but it?s a little deceiving as the Wizards started the season 0-8 away from home so they have actually gone 9-6 on the road since December 6th. Washington is 15-6 against teams outside the top 16 as it has been able to defeat the cupcakes of the league with no problem.
Philadelphia has not been much better, losing three of five with one of those wins coming in overtime and the other coming against lowly Charlotte. The Sixers are currently 27th in the league in the power rankings and have no big edge at home, going only 9-14 on the season. They have not fared well against the NBA?s elite, going 2-14 against teams ranked in the top ten. Thus includes a 1-6 record at home to go along with a 1-6 record against the number.
Antawn Jamison, Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler and Antonio Daniels said a players-only meeting held before practice on Monday helped clear the air and get the team focused on basketball. Coming of an embarrassing loss against Portland should only help as a similar defeat did earlier in the season. After an 18-point loss to Chicago to drop the Wizards to 6-10, head coach Eddie Jordan challenged Arenas and the team to play up to their potential and they responded by winning 11 of the next 13.
This is the final game for the Wizards before the All-Star break and because of a non-hectic recent schedule, they are set up well. Play on road teams where the line is +3 to -3 after having lost four of their last five games, well rested team playing six or less games in 14 days. This situation is 47-18 ATS (72.3 percent) since 1996 and already a perfect 2-0 this season. Washington has no excuses not to go into Philadelphia and take care of the Sixers with a blowout.
