NBA Pick

Tuesday **69.5% E.C. Game of the Week** - 5/29/2007 8:00:00 PM

  • Sport: NBA
  • Pick Selection: Detroit Pistons +1.5 -110

  • Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers 8:00 PM ET

    Detroit Pistons +1.5 -110

Memories of last season are creeping into the heads of the Pistons and they do not want to have a repeat of that. Detroit took a 2-0 lead in the Conference Semifinals and saw the Cavaliers take the next three games before the Pistons rallied to take the series. It is setting up the same way but Detroit has a lot more going in its favor this time around. The Pistons have looked lost at times in this series but could very be up 3-0 despite that. We saw how the big teams step up with the Spurs last night and will see it again here.

The Pistons say that their 2006 downfall started when they took that 2-0 lead over Cleveland, then got overconfident and lost three straight games. Cleveland will more than likely be without Larry Hughes tonight and while he has been a non-factor in this series on offense, his experience will be missed as well as his defensive presence. Hughes is one of the best defensive guards in the NBA and Chauncey Billups has major size and experience advantages over Hughes' replacement, Daniel Gibson.

Pistons center Chris Webber said the Cavaliers would want to bring their best defensive effort today in Game Four, especially against the Pistons' backcourt of Billups and Richard Hamilton, both of whom struggled in Game Three as they combined for just 20 points on 27.3 percent shooting. Both guards said they held back a bit on Sunday because the Pistons were still in the game and other guys were clicking. They aren?t going to hold back on Tuesday however.

Free throw shooting is often overlooked but it is hurting Cleveland and will continue to do so. Play on road teams that are shooting team greater than 76 percent from the line on the season going up against a team shooting less than 72 percent, in a game involving two good ball handling teams that commit fewer than 14.5 turnovers per game. This situation is 66-29 against the moneyline (69.5 percent) since 1996. The Pistons recover and take a 3-1 lead in the series. Play Detroit Pistons 2 Units
