Los Angeles Lakers +4 -110
2nd Round NBA Game of the Year We always hear the talk about home court advantage in the NBA and how important it is especially during the latter rounds of the playoffs. We are no doubt seeing this in the Conference Semifinals as the home team is a perfect 10-0 both straight up and against the number. Holding court has been the mainstay but we will see an end to this tonight in Utah even though the Jazz owned the best home record in the NBA during the regular season.
The Lakers have looked strong in the first two games of this series and they have now taken six straight games in the postseason going back to the sweep of the Nuggets. The road has certainly not intimidated them as they have won 29 on the road this year including 27 during the regular season which was the most in the Western Conference. The Lakers tied for the 6th best home record but had the best road record. One of the four regular season home losses by the Jazz came against Los Angeles.
A quote from the Salt Lake Tribune put this series into perfect perspective. The team whose sum was supposed to exceed its individual parts is being overwhelmed by a team whose individual parts were supposed to exceed its sum. The Lakers, to this point, not only have the better players, but also the better chemistry, the better group effort, the superior team. Utah will no doubt fire off the home crowd tonight but once that initial surge ends, the Lakers end this NBA playoff home domination.
This is a great number for the Lakers who are 13-2 ATS this season as underdogs of fewer than seven points. Coming off three straight games where it has scored 105 or more points and then playing on the road, Los Angeles is 11-2 ATS, winning those games outright by an average of seven ppg. It doesn?t end there as the Lakers are 15-1 ATS in a road game where the total is greater than or equal to 210 this season. Look for yet another outright victory tonight.
