NFL Pick

Williams MNF Power Play SEA/PHI - 12/5/2005 6:00:00 PM

  • Sport: NFL
  • Pick Selection: Play Seattle -3.5

  • Seattle at Philadelphia Game Notes

We are never eager to lay points on the NFL road, but this number is entirely too short given current reality. Let us quickly review why.

The Seahawks soar into this game at 9-2 SU overall, including 5-2 ATS when favored by -10 or less. This success is no fluke either, as Seattle boasts the No. 1 rated offense in NFL, is 11th in points allowed and has outgained 8 of its eleven opponents.

The Seabirds main advantage in tonight?s game is along the line of scrimmage. Homlgren?s offense is spearheaded by Shawn Alexander, who leads the league with 1,339 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns. The former Alabama running back is just 7 TD?s shy of matching Priest Holmes' NFL record set in 2003.

Then there is Philadelphia, a team we have successfully played against on several occasions this year. As noted in those write ups, there is something not right about this year?s Eagles edition. After all, the Green Birds were a bookie crushing 67-38-3 ATS under the guidance of Andy Reid prior to this year.

But Philadelphia is just 5-6 (SU) and an overvalued 3-8 (ATS) for the season overall. The Eagles are additionally 1-6 ATS their past seven overall and a back-breaking 3-12 ATS their past fifteen dating back to last season. And we are not putting much stock into last week?s win over the 2-9 Packers, as Green Bay had five turnovers and won the yardage battle.

Mike McMahon, who is 2-7 SU all time in his NFL career, was just 12-of-28 passing for 91 yards in place of the injured McNabb. Mind you, this is a team ranked dead last in the NFL in rushing yards per game. Put us down on Seattle ?
