Sport: NFLPick Selection: Rams, Jets, Saints/49'ers UNDER
This three game report includes plays on the Rams, Jets and the Saints/49'ers UNDER.
I'm taking the points with ST LOUIS. The Rams are starting to get healthier, including the return of Jackson, and this week represents an excellent opportunity to earn their first victory. While the Browns have played well at Cleveland, they've lost both their road games. Looking back a bit further and we find them at 0-5 their last five road games and 3-14 their past 17. Its also worth noting that they haven't won consecutive games since winning the last game of 2003 and the first in 2004. The Rams lost their last two home games by just combined four points. They head out on the road for two games after this and know they need to take advantage of this winnable game. Look for them to play their best game of the season and to earn their first win.
I'm laying the points with the NY JETS. While the Bills have played well at home, they've been outscored by a whopping 64-10 margin in their two road games, going 0-2 SU/ATS. Looking back a little further and we find the Bills at an ugly 4-14 their last 18 road games. Yes, the Jets have struggled. However, they are 7-2 the last nine times that they hosted the Bills. Those seven victories came by an average of two touchdowns and six of the seven came by more than a field goal. Look for Pennington and co. to come through with a big effort as they avenge last month's three point loss at Buffalo and continue their homefield series domination.
I'm playing on the 49ers and Saints to finish UNDER the total. Whether it's been Dilfer or Smith at quarterback, the 49ers have struggled to score points this season, averaging only 13 points. They've been at their worst offensively at home, managing a mere 10 points in three games. The new and improved defense has been solid though, allowing 16.3 points in those games. Not surprisingly, all three finished below the total, none of them producing more than 37 points. Meanwhile, after shredding defenses last season, the Saints are managing only 16.8 points per game this year. After last week's game vs. the Falcons stayed beneath the total, the Saints have seen three of their last four games finish below the total. Look for another low-scoring affair with the UNDER improving to 8-0 the last eight times that the 49ers were listed as underdogs of four points or less.
