Under 48 New England Patriots/Baltimore Ravens -110
***Weather Alert - total has dropped over three points and will likely continue to drop and possibly come off the board***
New England is coming off its biggest scare of the season last week against Philadelphia but the Patriots should be in batter shape here as they go up against an offense that has been borderline awful the last few weeks. Baltimore is averaging 14.4 ppg during its recent five-game losing streak and that includes a 30-point effort against Cleveland, the worst defense in the league. Now the Ravens will face the league?s third ranked defense overall and 4th ranked defense in points allowed.
New England brings in the best offense in the league and one of the best offenses of all time. The Patriots have scored 31 points or more in 10 of their 11 games on the season however, they have not faced many solid defenses. They have gone against only two defenses that are ranked in the top 10 and their 11 games have come against teams with an average defensive ranking of 19th. Baltimore has allowed a lot of points during its recent skid but there are other factors on its side in this one.
The weather will definitely have an effect on the game tonight as we should expect to see more running than usual. The winds will be extremely difficult on the passing game as the wind will be between 25 and 35 MPH throughout the game with gusts occasionally hitting 50 MPH. Also a problem will be field goal attempts as anything over 30 yards could be an adventure. The last time a game like this was played, it was Chicago beating San Francisco 17-9 in 2005 with a total of 95 yards passing in that one.
The recent scoring outputs on both sides look like an over play for this one but it is just the opposite as this falls under a contrarian situation to stay low. Play under any team where the total is between 42.5 and 49 points after allowing 25 points or more in two straight games going up against an opponent after two straight games where 50 total points or more were scored. This situation is 46-18 under (71.9 percent) since 1983 with the average points scored being 41.2 ppg. Play Under New England Patriots/Baltimore Ravens 2 Units
