Washington Redskins +4.5 -105
We have the Giants returning home off two road wins, neither of which was easy and both could have gone the other way. New York has virtually locked up the top Wild Card spot and even though this is a rivalry game, a lack of focus and intensity could be present. The Giants have lost two straight at home and are 3-3 there on the season. The only dominating win came against the Jets while wins over San Francisco and Philadelphia looked like routs but weren?t as New York was +34 yards combined in both games.
Washington picked up a much needed win last Thursday over Chicago and the extra time off in-between games is enormous for this team that is coming off so much over the last couple weeks. This was a physically and mentally tired team and that win over the Bears kept the Redskins alive in the playoff race. A win is a must here or the season is done so this game means a lot more for the Redskins. This is also a revenge game for Washington who blew a big early lead and there is more on that later.
First off, Jason Campbell is out at quarterback for the Redskins. He was having a decent season but his absence here helps Washington immensely. Backup Todd Collins was absolutely phenomenal against Chicago, completing 75 percent of his passes for 224 and two touchdowns. That was his first real action in three years and he has not missed a beat. The advantage is the fact that the Giants have only one game of film to look at and their unfamiliarity with Collins can be a problem.
On the other side, Eli Manning is having another disappointingly average season. He started good but has digressed into a second half spiral once again. Over his last six games, he has just two passer ratings higher than 72 after surpassing that number five times in his first seven games. His overall rating of 75.2 is the lowest in three years and he will be facing a hot Redskins defense that has allowed fewer than 20 points in three straight games.
As mentioned before, this is a revenge game for the Redskins and while getting that revenge on the road is never easy, we don?t even need the outright win here based on the generous line. Play on road underdogs of 3.5 to 10 points that are revenging a loss against opponent that have won between 40 and 49 percent of their games in the second half of the season. This situation is 26-6 ATS (81.2 percent) over the last 10 seasons. Look for Washington to keep this one close throughout with an outright win far from impossible. Play Washington Redskins 2 Units
