NFL Pick

Thursday **100% Bears/Skins Primetime Side Run** - 12/6/2007 8:00:00 PM

  • Sport: NFL
  • Pick Selection: Chicago Bears +3 -110

  • Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins 8:00 PM ET

    Chicago Bears +3 -110

Both Chicago and Washington are coming off tough losses on Sunday but the Redskins defeat is the one that is going to carry over more. It was a tribute game for Sean Taylor and one that they wanted to desperately win but the loss on a coach?s error and last second field goal will be too much to overcome. Add to the fact that the funeral for Taylor was Monday and the last thing this team wants now is to play a game. They are emotionally spent and simply won?t have enough on a short week.

The loss to the Giants was devastating enough for Chicago and if anything, the short week actually helps the Bears here as it forces them to focus on this game as opposed to reflecting on the last one for too long. Teams in this situation tend to respond better since getting back out on the field quicker causes greater focus. The Bears are tied with Washington and both are a game back in the wild card hunt. With Washington on a four-game skid, the Bears do have the edge there.

Chicago is 3-1 in its last four road games and if there is one player that has been playing better, it is the quarterback. Rex Grossman has looked like a totally different quarterback since being reinserted into the starting lineup. He threw for a season high 296 yards against the Giants and it was his first game of the season without a turnover. He has now posted a passer rating of 81 or higher in three of his last four games after posting a rating no higher than 56 in his first three starts on the year.

The Washington offense remains anemic as it has scored 17 or fewer points in half of its 12 games including the last two. Play against home favorites that are averaging between 18 and 23 ppg on the season going up against a team that allows between 18 and 23 ppg on the year after scoring 17 points or less in two straight games. This situation is 13-3 ATS (81.3 percent) over the last five seasons. Look for Chicago to be the more mentally tough team Thursday which will carry it to a win. Play Chicago Bears 2 Units
