NFL Pick

Friday **NFLX Game of the Week** - 8/10/2007 7:00:00 PM

  • Sport: NFL
  • Pick Selection: Buffalo Bills +6 -110

  • Buffalo Bills at New Orleans Saints 8:00 PM ET

    Buffalo Bills +6 -110

***NFLX Game of the Week*** With Bills camp taking place in the same town that I live, getting a good read on this team is straightforward. Expectations are high despite Buffalo being saddled with an over/under win total of six and early signs have been outstanding. J.P. Losman has been very impressive in camp as well as the receiving corps and rookie running back Marshawn Lynch. The defense has been getting their hands on a lot of balls, recording numerous interceptions and pass breakups.

Youth is always a big concern in the preseason since experience can go a long way. But youth can be a benefit as there is a lot of desire and competitiveness and that is what the Bills have. They are a young team but they are deep and possess enough playmakers to negate any sort of lack of experience they may have. The starters are expected to play around 10 to 15 plays and then give way to the backups. Buffalo has Craig Nall and Trent Edwards at quarterback and both have looked very sharp in the preseason.

New Orleans does have a game under its belt already but that could prove meaningless here. The Saints looked very sloppy against Pittsburgh and now have had only three days of practice to get ready for this one. Fixing what went wrong in that opener will not happen overnight and will take some more practice time to straighten out. The offense remains one of the best around but we won?t see a lot of the first string against the Bills in this second preseason contest.

Buffalo should have success rushing the ball as Lynch and Anthony Thomas will be able to run the ball against the Saints tired defensive front. The Saints defense was stymied by the same problem that plagued it last season which was giving up too many big plays. In the first half alone against Pittsburgh, the Saints allowed eight plays of more than 10 yards. New Orleans is getting too much respect here as this line should be at a field goal so the value and the more motivated team in the side of Buffalo. Play Buffalo Bills 2.5 Units
