Sport: NFLPick Selection: #428 OAKLAND (-)
#428 OAKLAND (-) over Detroit at 4:15 PM EST
This selection may come back to haunt me on Sunday night about 7:30 PM EST. But, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Silver and Black head coach Lane Kiffin and I've got a hunch he'll take care of business in his first regular season game.
Realistically speaking, it shouldn't take much to knock off Detroit. The Lions are without question one of the worst road teams in the league. Dating back to the 1995 season, the Motor City Kitty's are an embarrassing 21-78 SU and 39-55-5 ATS on foreign soil. That's not the worst part. As a guest matched up against a non-division foe, the Lions drop to a woeful 11-44 SU and 19-33-3 ATS including a nasty 5-23-1 ATS in this situation priced as a favorite or an underdog of +5 or less!
Teams from the NFC North division haven't exactly been road warriors either. In fact, NFC North clubs are a shocking 10-30 SU facing an AFC foe including a pathetic 7-23 SU if you take the Chicago Bears out of the mix.
Detroit has tasted victory in only five of their last 20 road openers and, even though the Lions are improved, they lack the character and experience to stroll into McAfee Coliseum and pull off this upset. Lane will make his father (Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin) proud here. Take OAKLAND! Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
