Tennessee Titans +9 -110
San Diego won the first battle between these two teams but it took overtime to get it done. I was on the Chargers in that one and to be honest, it was a very fortunate win as Tennessee dominated for most of the game but a late collapse left the door open for the Chargers. San Diego is playing some of the best football in the league right now and because of that, it is being asked to cover the biggest price of the playoff weekend. Even with the recent success, this line is completely off.
We all know the struggles that the Chargers have had in the playoffs and while they may be ?due? for a postseason win, that is no reason to take them. San Diego is a very public team right now and Tennessee is getting no respect. I have not been an advocate for Tennessee much this season as I think the offense is very pedestrian but it is the defense that is underrated. In the first meeting, the Titans held Philip Rivers to 37 yards passing through three quarters, sacked him five times and led 14-3 with about nine minutes left.
The defense lives and dies with Albert Haynesworth. Known mostly for his head stomp against the Cowboys last season, he has turned into one of the best defensive tackles in the league. He missed three games this season with a hamstring injury and it showed. Tennessee went 0-3 in those games, allowing 32.3 ppg while in the other 13 games, went 10-3 and allowed just 5.5 ppg. The Titans have allowed just 11 ppg over their last three games and will need a solid effort to shut down the once again potent Chargers offense.
This is a revenge game for the Titans as mentioned and they actually fall into a great situation because of it. Play on any team in the second half of the season that is revenging a loss by seven points or less to opponent, in a game involving two teams that have won between 60 and 75 percent of their games. This situation is 27-6 ATS (81.8 percent) over the last 10 seasons with the average point differential being +6.4 ppg. This has not lost in three years, going 9-0 ATS and is 13-1 ATS (92.9 percent) since 2001. Play Tennessee Titans 2.5 Units
